"What We Are All Searching For" | The Satellite Station| Review

“When I was young I only wanted to be older/Am I the only one who felt that way?/Did you feel that way?” are the opening lyrics to The Satellite Station’s new song “What We Are All Searching For” and it strikes an undeniable emotional chord.

This was the thing that especially drew me into this song; the lyrics are relatable, emotional, and approachable. As Travis Rue, the person behind The Satellite Station, said, “This song is about searching. How we are never content with who we are or where we are in life. We are always looking to that next thing that is just a little out of reach.” Paired with a cheerful guitar pattern and drums, it’s a simultaneously nostalgic, yet hopeful song that reaches for an answer to the human need for more. It tugs at the heart strings just enough to give an emotional reaction to keep the listener engaged. “This song is about searching. How we are never content with who we are or where we are in life. We are always looking to that next thing that is just a little out of reach. This acoustic driven song builds into an explosive anthem chorus.” The Satellite Station is Travis Rue’s solo project. This Ohio-based artist began sharing his music in 2019, a combination of pop and indie music to craft his individual sound.
