“Sweet Little Lies” is a sinister-sounding twist on bülow’s usual pop-y songs. This single showcases how much she’s grown as an artist; it’s a more sophisticated song, lyrically and musically. Its Billie Eilish-esque, without Eilishs’ teenage angst, making it more complex than most teenage pop songs. I absolutely love the direction bülow’s sound is going and I can’t wait to listen to her future releases.
This single, as well as her previous releases, almost mock the notion of having a sweet love song. One thing is for sure, bülow certainly doesn’t go for the heart broken damsel in distress vibe with her music. Bülow’s music make it clear that she isn’t going to go running back to whoever hurt her; I’d say it’s an expose the situation and leave it sort of love song.
This young musician has received four JUNO Award nominations including Pop Album of the Year and Breakthrough Artist of the Year. She’s also performing at SXSW in Austin, Texas and toured with Fickle Friends last fall. Her two EPs, Damaged Vol 1. And Damaged Vol. 2, have received high praise from various music websites and millions of streams on Spotify.
