Only a few days into 2025, and here I thought we were leaving bad relationships behind and starting anew. That was until Headphone Hair dropped a new song about loving someone so much that you don't know who you are.
Headphone Hair’s “So Into You” is a bedroom pop song that transcends outside the bedroom.
Headphone Hair sings how it feels to be with someone who makes you feel alone. The lyrics recall self-hurt, sadness, and apology over this push-and-pull relationship, leaving him to give up on themselves to become the other person.
But the production and melody contradict the dark lyrics. The electric guitar notes, piano keys, and synths are loud and soft while they move around the space. The melody and background vocals are light, catchy, and fun to sing along to. The contrast would have you think of Headphone Hair singing through the pain from the past relationship.
Fans and casual listeners of AJR would like “So Into You” because the production and lyrics remind me of some AJR songs, especially towards the end. The song also has some sync potential in a chill playlist, a coffee shop playlist, or a soundtrack for a web/TV series. “So Into You” was released on January 3 and is available on Spotify and Apple Music.
