"Poem Song" - Lily Kershaw | Review

Lily Kershaw breaks a 4-year hiatus with “Poem Song”.

The rich, full vocals on this track immediately caught my attention. Kershaw’s beautiful voice evokes a slew of different emotions, initially a melancholy feeling as her somber tone pairs with the slow piano. Eventually, however, it shifts to hopeful as she adopts a brighter tone and drums enter the bridge. The lyrics reflect this, detailing a journey of growth and self-improvement that gives us a window into Kershaw’s lengthy battle with depression, and how she’s coming out on the other side.

LA-based singer-songwriter Lily Kershaw is finally making her long-awaited return with “Depreshmode”, giving us a peek at the upcoming album with this first release. Kershaw experienced a breakthrough in 2013 with her debut album “Midnight in the Garden”, as the single “As It Seems” was featured on Grey’s Anatomy, Criminal Minds, and more. Following it up with her 2018 EP “Lost Angeles” and 2021 album “Arcadia”, she has amassed over 80 million streams to date. We can’t wait to see what’s in store on “Depreshmode” - be sure to keep an eye out for its release!
