“LA” - The Bergamot | Review

Updated: Jul 30, 2019

“LA” is a beautiful song with a deep underlying meaning.

Not only are the vocals outstanding as usual, But The Bergamot also took their song to a new level by commenting on how LA sometimes can be viewed as a paradise that hides the harsh reality that is the rest of the world. The song uses a very mystical sounding melody to add to the idea that LA is dream-like and unlike the rest of the world. “Elle” who is referred to in the song is someone who “woke up” from LA and moved on.

The music video uses bright colors at times that look like the “dream state” and at other times it looks blurred or colorless that seem to pull from the mystical world LA creates. The scene where the lights are rushing past on the bridge reminds me of the haziness that comes from waking up.

Once again The Bergamot has impressed me with yet another incredible song with a deeper meaning! They really are quite incredible.

The Bergamon is an American indie-folk-rock band based in Brooklyn, New York. The two founding members and songwriters of The Bergamot are husband and wife Nathaniel Hoff and Jillian Speece.
