“Fingertips” by tesh gives me a similar impression as Charlie XCX’s brat but with a hazy house and indie rock energy. It builds with the sounds of a party and a steady four on the floor beat. Then the hazy vocals come in singing “feel you on my finger tips.”
The mention of fingertips, the delivery of the vocal and the effects on the track add this faded intimacy. To me, it perfectly describes a brief (due to the loud club music) but important moment of connection where someone hopes that you will remember how much you mean to them. The lyrics feel like they are spoken to the listener as opposed to described to us. On first listen, I immediately pictured being on the dance floor just as the adrenaline of the crowd amps up. Then when the beat switches, everyone jumps and suddenly things blur. Tesh did a fantastic job putting together a banger that should be looped time and time again to dance/jump to.
I’m not the first to bring praise to tesh, with features from Zane Lowe’s show on Apple Music, Sirius XM Chill, and BBC Radio 1, he is making a mark on the music world. Thankfully, he has more coming. Tesh’s forthcoming debut EP, CYCLES + REPETITIONS will be released on April 25. In the meantime, I highly recommend putting “Fingertips” onto any playlists that already have Chappell Roan, Charlie XCX or Sabrina Carpenter’s bops so you can dance right through these late winter LA months. Or really, that’s what I will be doing!
