Fast One by Madisyn Gifford | Review

Do you know when someone you like uses you for a situationship and just ghosts you? Because “Fast One” is your thoughts and perspective after the matter.

"The song is essentially about all of the feelings of sadness, shame, and betrayal that can often come from situations like that but also the humor that can come out of them as well,” Gifford shares. “It’s funny how oftentimes it’s the 2-month situationship that hurts more than the long term breakup, and this song is me pointing that out.”

Right off the bat, I can feel the sadness and shame in the song’s production. The guitars, fiddle, and background vocals bring a melodramatic atmosphere that dampens the mood but also makes you reflect on reality.

“Fast One” has two parts: In the first half, the lyrics reeks of sadness and ashamed of a situationship turning into something serious. In the second half, the lyrics are still reek of sadness and shame, but in a tongue in cheek sorta way. It brings a moment of realization that the moment was an inconvenience and you have to push forward.

Fast One is the new single to Madisyn Gifford’s third full album.
