DADĒ UNVEILS "SNAKE EYES" FEATURING ALEX RAY: A HAUNTING EXPLORATION OF TOXIC RELATIONSHIPS

Electronic-pop artist DADĒ (they/them) returns with their captivating new single "SNAKE EYES," a powerful collaboration featuring vocalist Alex Ray that delves into the psychological warfare of toxic relationships. The track marks DADĒ's fourth single release and their first-ever artist collaboration.

Following the more optimistic tone of their previous release "MAKE YOU MINE," which showcased love and budding romance, "SNAKE EYES" reveals DADĒ's artistic duality with its darker narrative. The single masterfully captures the push and pull dynamics of manipulative relationships – where one partner struggles against suffocating pressure while simultaneously trying to escape, and the other employs manipulation tactics to maintain control.

"You and me are never on the same side/ I'm pushin' n' I'm pullin' at the same time/ Rolling always landing on those snake eyes," DADĒ confesses in lyrics that illuminate a high-stakes emotional game where the odds are perpetually stacked against one player.

The collaboration with Alex Ray marks a creative milestone for DADĒ. "This was the first track I have collaborated with anyone on, and when the idea of Alex Ray featuring on this came up, I was so excited," DADĒ shares. "We immediately connected and she helped bring this track to another level with her insane vocals." What began as a feature opportunity blossomed into a creative partnership that rekindled Ray's passion for songwriting.

Ray reflects on the experience: "This song was the first creation I helped make after a long period of feeling unsure of my writing and vocal abilities, and it really brought the spark back to making music. I hope you love this world we've built in SNAKE EYES."

Sonically, "SNAKE EYES" draws inspiration from Billie Eilish's "L'AMOUR DE MA VIE," featuring heavily processed vocals with a massive delay that echoes throughout the track. DADĒ employed Little Alter Boy by Soundtoys to alter the format in the lead chorus vocals, creating an eerie, unsettling soundscape that perfectly complements the song's theme of toxic entrapment.

A music video for "SNAKE EYES" will premiere on April 4, 2025, bringing a visual dimension to the track's haunting narrative. The video features DADĒ and Alex Ray engaged in a symbolic and compelling card game of "Snake Eyes" that they made up for the shoot – a metaphorical battleground where the power dynamics constantly shift, with neither player ever truly gaining the upper hand. This visual representation perfectly mirrors the song's exploration of relationship manipulation, where every winning hand is temporary and every victory comes with hidden costs.

About DADĒ:

(Yes, it’s pronounced daddy), the pseudonym for Los Angeles-based non-binary engineer and producer Syd Tagle. In 2018 Syd joined the band known as The Shakes as their keyboardist and vocalist and began to carve out their niche in production. Post the split of the band, Syd moved to Los Angeles to pursue the studio life. Over their first three years in L.A., they had the pleasure of building relationships with and working with many artists from SZA (3x Grammy winning, SOS), Don Toliver (Love Sick), to Giveon (Give Or Take). In 2023 life took them in yet another direction - the G Flip “Drummer Tour” - acting as the musical director and keyboardist for opening act Miki Ratsula; once again sparking their love for performing. After years of stacking up hard drives full of ideas, Syd finally decided to take the songs out of the vault, polish them, and upload them for the world to hear via their debut solo artist endeavor DADĒ. Veering away from their track record of R&B and indie/alternative credits, DADĒ acts as the catalyst in an exploration of infectious synths, simple but effective lyrics, and driving melodies. DADĒ is a persona and experience - an alter ego or view of self, a bit that went a step too far. Welcome to DADĒ, the version of you that isn’t afraid to share.
